Dunn & Duncan
Founded in 1733 by a William Duncan, trading as a Bookseller, during the era
of quill pens and scribes when Gin was readily available to alleviate the boredom.
We have located a Dunn as a partner in a firm of Stationers and trading as Coles,
Dunn & Knight, at 21 Fleet Street, London in the year 1774.
We have also traced an E. Dunn & Son of 9 Fleet Street, London in 1831 and the amalgamation of Dunn & Duncan and Henry Butterworth in 1831. It would appear that Dunn & Duncan were at 9 Fleet Street until 1887, for there was an old photograph of the shop of Dunn & Duncan on the corner of Bell Yard, London displaying the billhead for calendars for 1888. This photograph sadly was stolen from our offices then at 87 Chancery Lane, London.
In 1834 there was a Stationer at 87 Chancery Lane named Hugh Pyke. Also traced
were Harwar & Son in 1885 at Bell Yard, London and 22 Chancery Lane in 1882.
Other Law Agencies namely W. Kybert & Son, Harwar & Sons, Pearce Wyatt
& Co dating back to prior 1835 have all been amalgamated together with Dunn
& Duncan in the Company D & D LAW AGENCY SERVICES LIMITED and we act
on behalf of some 10,000 clients (incl. Solicitors and Accountants in every
part of the U.K. & Off-Shore Islands.
